What Makes Me an Ambassador:
I’m an ambassador for the game because I run a camp with my coach at St. John’s that has about 60 kids ranging from 1st to 8th graders. This isn’t huge but I feel like it helps grow the game. I focus on the 1st through 2nd graders because they’re just starting out and I don’t want them to lose interest because they had a bad time at camp that day. We play a lot of “hungry hungry hippos” and “sharks and minos” which are games to help with ground balls. I believe they have an awesome time and it’s always nice to watch them smile and have fun.
How I Impact My Community:
This is not lacrosse related but I go to one of the best academic schools in the country so to give back and spread knowledge, a couple of teachers and students and I help with this organization called Breakthrough. Breakthrough is an organization that helps underserved kids in the Houston community. The ages range from 6th grade to 9th graders. I am a teacher for 8th algebra students and I have kids in my class from all over Houston. I enjoy learning new things and then teaching it to other people. I’ve been doing breakthrough for two years and it’s awesome. It is technically volunteer work but I don’t do it for the hours. I just think it’s fun.
